Twitter

Twitter is getting more and more popular but unfortunately, more social media “leeches” are getting in to abuse the system and try to make money with it. Twitter’s meant to be a way for people to connect with each other and in this article, I’m going to show you how you can create a real following instead of being like the leeches who don’t do anything except try to sell.

1. Create More Open Tweets

Chatting in Twitter is called “tweeting”. So when you have an open tweet, you use “@(the person’s twitter account name) (message)”. By using that, you send a message to that person. Direct messages (DMs) are tweets sent in private – you can do that by using “D (person’s twitter account name) (message)” – but take note, you can only send direct messages when the other person is following you.

2. Ask Open Ended Questions

Try not to ask something like true or false questions, yes or no questions. Ask really open ended ones like “What do you think of (whatever)?” or “Who else thinks that (whatever)?”

When people see that, they can answer it. People who try to sell on Twitter like to ask questions like “How to make money? (link)” or “I make money easily using this! (link)” – avoid stuff like that at all costs.

If you have to send people to a site for selling something, please do it privately.

3. Jump In On Other Twitter Conversations

The great thing about Twitter is that you can actually communicate with other Tweeple on Twitter. When someone is discussing about your favorite author, for example, you can jump in and tweet about it.

Use the trends in Twitter to find out what’s hot on Twitter and to make more connections. You can find some really interesting people when they start talking about the trends on Twitter.

Not to mention since Twitter is so interactive, you can easily find up-to-date information by asking around what’s going on and why is there a certain trend that’s hot. Tweeple will tweet you the answers really quickly.

Hope you’ve enjoyed this article. This is an article that I have written for people who like to use Twitter to create real, meaningful relationships with other people.

Everything You Wanted to Know About Twitter But Were Afraid to Ask

Twitter Read

Twitter is one of many social media platforms available online. Yet, it has received a tremendous amount of attention in recent months, as it seems that every celebrity, media outlet and business owner is utilizing Twitter in one way or another. Millions of people are beginning to capitalize on the many business opportunities that Twitter profiles present. Are you going to be one of them?

What is Twitter? Twitter is a social media outlet that allows users to stay connected in real time. The platform began in 2006, although it was not until the past 12-18 months that the quantity of users and national/international recognition began to take off. One of the reasons that users love Twitter is that the platform is simple. Instead of allowing users to build elaborate profiles, Twitter centers around simple, short postings that are shared with members, the entire Twitterverse and a member’s list of followers.

While users can customize the look and feel of their Twitter profiles, the overall gist of the platform is simplicity. Users can share thoughts, ask questions, share information, post external links, share personal comments and more. These short posts, or Tweets, can be added online, from your mobile phone and by using other social media applications. While the social media outlet began as a simple way for individual to communicate, it is now a popular marketing tool used by businesses large and small.

Twitter and the Rest of the Social Media World One of the best things about Twitter is the ability to integrate it into your other social media profiles. For example, Facebook offers a Twitter application. Whenever you make a Twitter post, it is shared with your Facebook friends. Almost every major social networking website offers a similar application option. You can add Twitter feeds to all of your social media profiles, your company website and your blogs as well. By connecting all of your online worlds together, you are increasing your overall marketing opportunities. Every social media platform has its place online.

The key is integrating them all seamlessly so that your marketing workload is reduced. Just like everything online, Twitter has evolved. If you have not already joined the other Twitter users, now is your chance. Take time to learn about the platform, how to set up profiles, how to post information and which type of information you should include in your posts.

Twitter For Your Business – How to Get Started on the Right Foot

Twitter Bird

Twitter Bird

Twitter is a social media platform perfectly in line with what we want, “simple, fast, and easy”. Using just 140 characters and nothing else, we all know exactly what we’re getting. A tweet is simply a short, concise, direct, easy to read “blurb” that provides insight to something bigger and better. From a business perspective, each tweet is an opportunity to sell you, your company, your product or service.

So, how do you effectively use Twitter to promote your business? Well, like so many things out there with internet marketing, there is not just “one way” to do it. For the sake of conversation lets break this down into two categories: direct and indirect advertising.

As a new person, small business, or large company the first step will be an indirect approach. By indirect I mean you are NOT going to start sending tweets about your company or products right away, just the opposite. You are going to build your reputation and start to learn the ropes by being a good listener. As you get involved and gain followers and start following others, you will start to read the tweets and learn the tricks that will actually build you and your company up in a positive light. This is an important step.

Some simple ways to build a likable personality on Twitter is to provide useful information or insight. This could be a link to a newly released report (on a topic that is within your field), or a great article, maybe a reference to a good book or good product. Really, you want to provide value to others, so they see you as someone they trust and in turn this will increase your chances of working with them later on down the road.

Once you start to get the hang of how things work by participating, providing value, and listening to what people are saying it’s time to take it to the next level. Your approach can become a bit more direct. Now when I say direct, I’m using this term very loosely.

I don’t want this to become a lesson in internet marketing, but often times companies or small business entrepreneurs will have a blog that they push traffic to. The purpose of the blog is to provide additional detailed information about the company, product or services in a non-invasive way. Again, this is based on the philosophy that when you provide value, people will trust you and in turn want to work with or partner with you. Pretty basic, but what seems to happen sometimes is we get so excited about the “potential” sale that we end up smothering our prospects. This is a sure turn off for any potential customer.

So, a great strategy is to tweet about new blog posts on your business blog or company blog and include the link. Let’s say you just wrote a blog post about how to use Twitter effectively for your business, you could tweet: “Want to learn how to effectively use Twitter in your business?” – then include the link. This will drive traffic to your blog, which acts as the first step in the sales process. Now, just sending prospect to a blog is not good enough, you must take the time to craft your blog in a specific way that all visitors know what to do “next”…have a call to action on your blog! That is a topic for another article…back to the topic at hand.

Always remember, Twitter never sleeps and it is constantly moving. Because of this, we have the opportunity to test often. Testing your results on Twitter will help you to recognize the actions that are actually helping your business, and also eliminate the actions that are not producing results. Trust me, you don’t want to overlook the value in tracking. A great tool that will shorten your URL and also track how many people are clicking on your link is called TR.IM and you can visit this site by going to http://tr.im/

Take the time to get familiar with Twitter so you can develop a solid strategy that will work for you and your business. Build your reputation and work on gaining as many followers as possible by providing useful information in your tweets. It will not be long before you are driving tons of traffic to your sites with the use of this simple yet satisfying social networking tool.

How Does Twitter Work For the Success of Your Best Affiliate Programs?

June 19, 2009 by Melanie

Twitter Bird Follow Me

If you are not familiar with Twitter, you may ask how does Twitter work to be able to judge, whether you can use it or how should you use it for your best affiliate programs. You must have a Twitter strategy!

1. What Is Twitter?

Twitter is a micro blogging platform, a way to keep contact with your community. One great idea is to tell, what you are just now doing or what you just did. For instance many article directories or article distribution services are connected with Twitter and every time an author submits a new article, Twitter will get the notice automatically.

You can also say that Twitter is in a way a chatting platform, because it favours short and quick messages. You have 140 characters or less to tell to your followers, what you are doing. It is wise to pick the followers carefully, so that they will form a community of people with the same needs and to avoid people, who want to sell whatever services, which are not related to your best affiliate programs.

2. The Idea Of Twitter Is In It`s Community Feature.

It is natural, that when a person has joined to some community, he has an emotional relation to it. This is important, because many home business entrepreneurs are working alone at home and they have a strong will to talk with other online business owners.

a. With Twitter you can chat directly with your customers.
b. You can build brand and keep your brand in the minds of other people.
c.You can use Twitter as a support forum for your business. This is important especially for new customers.
d. Twitter allows you to expand your circle of friends beyond your formal target group and to draw new customers into your business.
e. When you publish a new blog post or article, you can publish automatically a notice on your Twitter account, so that your followers get the information. This is important, because it happens in real time.
f. Many Twitter users have a list of followers with thousands of friends and they can test ideas or even products among these people.
g. You can share freebies or digital gifts to your followers just to make them happy.
h. You can increase your search engine rankings, when you use keywords in your posts.

Twitter belongs to the group of social media, so to be successful with it, you just have to be social. The main rule is that you have to give, before you can get something. Your presentation must be useful for other people. This usefulness is challenging, because you cannot sell anything directly.

But when you see yourself as a host of your Twitter community, who sets the rules and the tone of discussion there, you will raise above others. The idea is that others will see you as their boss and that they become thankful to yourself.

3 Advanced Twitter Marketing Strategies You Shouldn’t Learn

June 16, 2009 by Melanie

Twitter Bird

Twitter Bird

Twitter has become more than just a main stream media – it has become the latest “must have” social network for many businesses and individuals. And as flood of new members join the ranks of twitterers – some of the misconceptions turn into true problems.

Allow me to explain!

Twitter is not just a platform for marketing but a social medium, meaning that majority of the people are there to communicate, establish relationships and develop their business. While marketing is permitted and welcomed by many, as long as it is consistent with your main message and actually services your market niche.

Unfortunately too many tend to ignore the fact and jump straight into marketing without as much as saying a personal “Hello”. What is even worse – when you visit their Twitter home page all you see is them talking AT YOU not with the followers.

So here are the 3 Things You Shouldn’t Learn About Twitter

1. Don’t Do Auto-DM

Automated Direct Message, also known as AutoDM is one of the most controversial and generally disliked techniques that borders on spam. Twitter is all about instant communication and sending and autoresponder message to your followers and what is even worth – include a link in it is equal to screaming at me to go visit your site as soon as we meet on the street.

Use common sense! If you wouldn’t do it face-to-face – why would you abuse Social Network?

2. Don’t Talk AT Me, Talk TO Me

Twitter is all about conversations that happen in real time, right now and they all must fit in 140 characters or less!  Reserving your conversations only to information you share is equal to ignoring the conversation.

Once again common sense: Would you stand in a group of people and every once in a while shout out something you have to say ignoring whatever conversation was happening at the moment?

They WHY would you do it on Twitter?

3. Don’t Ignore Your Market Needs

People have chosen to follow you for one or another reason but they will remain your followers only if you will continue delivering information they liked in the first place. More often than not it was an answer to their question, solution to their problem or contribution to a common conversation that you made.

Consider your market needs and continue to provide information that services it, delivers answers and provides solutions! And yes, that does include marketing of affiliate products, your own services and even competing products.

Common Sense: People have a trust in your words, use it wisely and don’t peddle crap on them just to make a quick buck!

Conclusion: Twitter can be extremely powerful tool in your arsenal or it could be the beginning of your doom if you decide to abuse it. Information spreads like a fire and damage to your reputation can be very hard to repair if you do something stupid.

Consider common sense strategies in everything you do on Twitter or any other social network, if you wouldn’t do it to a people having a conversation with you face-to-face due to moral restrains – stay away from using it on social networks.

It will not make you a star but it will gain you respect and provide you with benefits you expected.

Five Steps to Building Your Brand on Twitter

June 3, 2009 by Melanie

Twitter

Twitter

There are 5 basic steps to effectively branding your business on Twitter. Create a custom Twitter background, attract followers, build your base, interact with the community and make your sales pitch. This is not an overnight processes but with a customer base 50% of which have a college degree and earn $60,000 plus each year is worth the slow cultivation.

(1) Your Custom Twitter Background
Twitter’s unique design a background feature is a free billboard for you to promote yourself or your business. The design can be an extension of an existing website, promote a product or be an effective online business card with contact details. The unique background template is not a static item. It can be edited to attract or inform followers about new products, services, or web site locations.

(2) Attracting Followers
It is after all about who is following you on Twitter and by extension those who follow your followers. In the beginning tweeting famous quotes, music, humorous videos and news is an effective tool to attract followers.

(3) Build Your Base
Your base will not be successfully built with a hard sell approach. In a recent survey of twitterers 42% of respondents said they unfollowed other twitterers because they were tired of watching them self promote with links and no interaction. An effective way to build follower numbers is by manually following those who follow your followers. Your base will likely have a following with the same interests that attracted them to you.

(4) Interact with the Community
This is not a time for the sales pitch you are cultivating a client base. Tweeting information about subjects that potential customers might find of interest is the perfect introduction to your business. If you sell tackle tweet the latest fishing contest winner or chocolatiers could post news links to health benefits of chocolate.

(5) Making Your Sales Pitch
Now that you have their attention you can test a few sales tweets. Check for rise or fall in follower levels after each tweet and adjust content accordingly. Using humor to pitch your product can launch Twitter version of viral “the retweet” and send you message out to people far outside your base.

Design, attract, build, interact and sell are all the tool you need to successfully promote you brand on Twitter. Following these steps will ensure you are building a permanent base of repeat customers in the Twitterverse.
